Use this report to check who has completed their assigned courses or learning paths and who still needs to finish. The figures above the table give you an overview of learning progress.
How do you open the report and find the data you need?
-
Open Reports and statistics → Learning progress.
-
Choose Courses or Learning paths, then the Learning progress report. On a small screen, select the report view from the list that replaces the horizontal tabs.
-
To check a particular employee, use the search field. For a more specific selection, expand Filters: you can choose the learning, department, job title and date range.
-
Fill in the fields you need. The report updates automatically. To remove one filter, remove its label; to start a new selection, reset all filters.
The date range in this report applies to the date learning became active for the employee. Use it to find learning activated within particular dates.
Administrators can see all company data. Managers see only employees in the departments they have access to. The same restrictions apply to the details window and the Excel file.
What do the figures above the table mean?
| Indicator | Meaning and calculation |
|---|---|
| Employees | The number of employees in the report. Each employee counts once, even if they have several learning assignments. |
| Completed | The number of completed course or learning-path assignments. One employee can have several completed assignments. |
| Not completed | The number of assignments with no recorded completion. This includes learning that has not started, is waiting to start or has become unavailable. This figure is calculated by subtracting completed assignments from the total number of assignments. |
| Completion rate | The proportion of assigned learning that has been completed. Formula: Completed ÷ (completed + not completed) × 100%. |
For example, a report with 23 completed and 94 not completed assignments has 117 assignments in total. The completion rate is 23 ÷ 117 × 100% = 19.7%, after rounding.
All figures reflect the selected filters and include records across every page of the table. Moving to another page does not change the totals. If the report has no records, the completion rate shows “No data”.
How do the course and learning-path reports differ?
In the course report, the same course can appear more than once for an employee. This happens when a course is assigned independently and within different learning paths: each assignment counts separately. Use the course and learning-path filters to find the rows you need.
In the learning-path report, open Details to see the path’s tasks and check which required materials have been completed. A learning path is complete once all its required tasks have been credited as completed. Optional material is excluded from the required-task count.
Why can learning progress and status differ?
Learning-path progress shows the proportion of required materials credited as completed. Until all are complete, the percentage is capped at 99%: for example, 199 out of 200 is shown as 99%. Completing every required material gives 100%. The same rule applies to the web report and Excel; optional materials do not affect this percentage.
The progress percentage and recorded completion are shown separately. Even if the Progress column shows 100%, completion may not yet have been credited for that assignment. To check the result, look at its status and open Details, where you can review the actual completion date and the credit date.
“Progress updating” means that a percentage is not yet available. If the report shows 0%, the system already has a known progress value.
Revoking access does not undo an earlier recorded completion. A row can therefore show both “Completed” and “Access revoked”. That assignment continues to count as completed.
How do you download the report in Excel?
Choose the filters you need and select Export to Excel. The file includes every record matching your filters and permissions, including rows on other pages of the table.
The Report sheet contains the report data. The Filters sheet lets you check the parameters used to select it.
What do the Excel columns mean?
| Column | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Employee | The name of the employee assigned the learning. |
| Department; Job title | The employee’s departments and job titles. If they have more than one, a cell can contain several values. |
| Learning; In a learning path | The course or learning-path title. For a course, this can also show the path it belongs to. |
| Status | The learning status recorded in the system. Completed learning can also show that access has been revoked. |
| Progress (%) | The progress percentage, if known. An empty cell means the value is unavailable and should not be read as 0%. |
| Completed mandatory; Total mandatory | These columns appear only in learning-path reports. They show how many required tasks are complete and how many there are in total. |
| Activation | The date learning became active for the employee, if known. |
| Deadline | The date by which the employee must complete this learning. If no date is set, the cell shows “No deadline”. |
| Days overdue | The number of days this employee’s learning is overdue. |
| Actual completion | The date learning was actually completed. A date marked “time unknown” is known without an exact time. If no completion date is known, the cell is empty. |
| Credit type | Shows how the result was credited, for example as a new completion or using a result from a previous attempt. |
| Deadline compliance | Shows whether learning was completed on time or late. If there are not enough dates, deadline compliance cannot be determined. |

FAQ
Why are there more completed assignments than employees?
An employee can complete several courses or learning paths. They count once under Employees, while each completed learning assignment counts under Completed.
Does disabling a course remove its completion?
No. Recorded completion is preserved even if access to the course is revoked.
Does Excel download only the rows on the current page?
No. The file contains every record matching your filters and permissions.
Positive progress that rounds to zero is shown as “<1%”. If rounding produces 100% while materials or assignments remain incomplete, the display shows 99%. Full completion shows 100%. This does not change credits or exact counts; Excel uses the text “<1%” for confirmed small progress.
